An Online Class to Elevate Your Dance Career—45+ Years in the Making

Joel Hall Dancers (JHD) has continued—for 45+ years—to be trusted for its citywide, national, and international reputation.

Operating with substantive sociological content and aesthetic style, Joel Hall dancers have continued to dazzle, sparkle, and light up the stage—from the streets of Chicago to world premieres across the globe.

And at the precipice of this was the the technique itself, refined, honed, and taught by Joel Hall and Jacki Sinclair.

Yet—for 45+ years—this codified technique was taught within Chicago, and nowhere else. If you didn’t have access to the Joel Hall Center, there was no way you could learn this technique from start to finish and level up your dance career.

That is, until now.

From JHD comes a new online course where you’ll be armed with all the tools, knowledge, and depth to effectively and rigorously convey the technique to any student. Now, you’ll get everything—their depth, their experience, their syllabus (ready for you to use), and all the supplementary material—so you can teach in studios and make a living doing what you were meant to do.

You don’t have to compromise between what you need to do, and what you love to do. Now—with JHD—you can do both—with integrity, with energy, and with a fierce spirit we’ll instill in you from the first day of instruction.

Why Now?

Because dance matters.

For some, dance is simply a weekend hobby. We get that, and we encourage it.

But for people like us, it’s a reason to breathe. It’s a reason to live. And it’s a reason to light up our souls, live our truth, and share it with the world.

There is no greater electricity than sharing your passion with someone else. There’s nothing better than lighting up a student for the rest of their lives. And now, as a teacher, you get the unique privilege to teach dance to the next generation of students, creators, and innovators within the diverse theatre of dance.

But there’s a problem. Crafting a career as a dancer means two things: you need to have a depth of understanding, and you need to have the right techniques under your belt. And getting these both—in fact, getting these right—can be challenging.

Put simply, it is hard to signal to studios and dancers what you know, as well as the depth of who you are as a dancer. It is difficult—as we know through early experience—to prove that you know a technique well, that you’re thorough, that you’re legitimate, and that you have an understanding that is as rich as it is varied, regardless of your merit.

To be direct: studios care about whom you studied under, what you bring to the table, and who you are as a dancer. These things matter, and becoming strong—with your versatility and your teaching—can craft you a strong career as an instructor, a dancer, and a performer.

That’s where we come in. Adding Joel Hall to your repertoire won’t just make you stronger within the technique itself—it’ll elevate your career, help you stand-out with trusted, world-class instruction, and teach you a technique that is above-all authentic and innovative.

This course is not easy—but we’ve designed it so that you can learn the technique as quickly as possible, as conveniently as possible (you can do it all at home), and help you master the technique itself.

You can’t teach unless you know something intimately—this course will get you there, and get you there efficiently.

On top of this, we’ve been perfecting this technique for 45+ years. We’ve studied under the foremost dancers in the world—have traveled across international borders to perform it—and after years of culling, rethinking, and innovating in the world of Urban Jazz Dance, you’ll get all of it in one syllabus that’s ready to teach to any student you face.

You don’t need to reinvent the wheel or structure a thing—you just need to steal from the masters, teach the next generation of innovators, and inspire the passion for dance that we know so well.

My Call to You

I’m here to tell you: you can make it as a teacher and as a dancer. You can take your career to the next level. And you can live life on your creative terms, not others.

We’ve done it for ourselves, and—with this online course—we’re ready to help you do it too.

With this course, I want to create a legion of teachers who pass on this legacy, because we know how much it’s changed the lives of so many others. We promise: when you teach Urban Jazz Dance, your students won’t forget it.

Now is the time for this technique to be shared as widely as possible. And it’s time for this to change more lives than those we can simply by ourselves.

The world is calling on us—on all of us—to dance, to live our truth, and steer our lives in a productive, useful way. It’s calling on us to live better lives for ourselves—as dancers, educators, and world-class performers.

It’s calling on us to teach others so they can lead better lives—both as dancers and as people.

So my question for you is simply this: are you ready to heed the call?
